"We're Over Now" - by Cece Benz

Release Date: November 22, 2024

What You Should Know: "I first started writing this song back in the fall of last year, but didn’t finish it until this summer. I texted @luke11giles asking if he’d want to produce it and when we got back to Boston this fall, we got to work. With life and busy schedules, we actually ended up doing most of the recording and tracking within a week. This meant back to back studio sessions, mainly between the hours of 12am - 4am. I’m so proud of the way this song turned out and can’t thank @luke11giles enough for helping me bring my vision to life and putting up with me while I figured out what I wanted to do with the song."

“Stupid For Your Love" by Liya (Jan 13, 2023 Release)

"stupid for your love" is the latest single from the incredible singer Liya!

You have to listen to this song. Like listen to it right now. As soon as you can as often as you can! What can you expect from the song? Here's a quick write-up from the release...

“stupid for your love”, is an upbeat pop anthem, featuring Bulgarian folk-rhythmic motives, and jungle vibes. With this single, Liya and producer Chengcheng Tang explore ways to sonically represent the feeling of love, through unique rhythms, some of which representing the heartbeat, as well as complimenting counter-melodies to Liya’s sweet and catchy vocals. The lyrics of “stupid for your love” use metaphors, drawn from nature, which are matched in the production. With these metaphors, Liya paints the picture of how being in love can transfer you to a secret and sacred place."

You can't beat that!

Liya's Thrift Store Creation!

Not long ago, Liya shared a video of how she turned a thrift store find into an outfit for her dreamhouse music video. It was quite a drastic transformation, and I knew there had to be a story behind it. So, I took the opportunity to ask her a few questions about the outfit.

I don’t know about you, but one of the first things that popped into my head, was whether the find was an accident. Did she see the item in the store and just know it could become something special, or did she go to the store looking for something…anything…that she could use in the video?

“I love thrifting”, she explained, “and when I do it, I look for two things: 1. pieces that I like the way they are and 2. pieces that have potential, meaning I love the pattern or fabric, even if the piece doesn't fit me well, or at all.”

She continued, “When I bought this shirt, I knew I wanted to

turn it into a two-piece that I can use on stage, as well as for the 'dreamhouse' music video.”

The design was another interesting aspect, “The shirt initially was really big on me, which meant I could do a few things since there was a lot of extra material. So I went with a skirt and a bathing suit-style top with extra long ties.”

I’d say she was happy with the results because she added, “I don't think I'd do anything differently next time, I would just do more of this, haha!"

I think she’ll definitely keep doing this because she’s made a habit of this, including a purple two piece suit that was another thrift flip (linked here or here.) and some amazing feather pants (linked here or here)

And it’s not just clothes. As she added, “I also sew in the 40 inch extensions for the 'dreamhouse' music video myself. I'm planning on making a quick tiktok video/reel showing people how I did that too!”

All in all I’d say Liya has done a great job creating some unique pieces to use on stage and in videos.

I can’t wait to see more of it.

“Dreamhouse" by Liya (April 29, 2022 Release)

"Dreamhouse" is the latest single from the amazing singer Liya!

You are going to want to listen to this song as soon as you can as often as you can! What can you expect from the song? Liya talked a bit about it during her recent interview with us...

“Dreamhouse" is a dark pop single about a twisted world, a saccharine with a few cracks. I created the distorted look down the rabbit hole of a warped Barbie world, while referencing social pressures women face such as body image.

Definitly something to experience!
