Ceci Reyes Visits Section 36 Music!

Section 36
Music has another visitor!
Ceci Reyes is an incredible singer with upcoming music you won't want to miss.
I was so excited that she wanted to visit with us and discuss her music, future goals, and more. I’m sure you’ll enjoy everything she has to say.

So, let's see what happens when Ceci Reyes visits Section 36 Music!

You’ve had the opportunity to perform at many live shows. What do you enjoy about sharing your music with an audience?
I’ve been lucky enough to have some amazing performance opportunities and I always have so much fun performing live. I think what I love most about sharing my music with an audience is having people relate to my lyrics. I’ve had people come up to me after a show and tell me that they relate to a certain song and that always means so much to me. My goal has always been to make music that people can relate and connect to!

Do you see any studio work in your future?
I definitely do! I’m set to record my first single soon and it’s one that I’m really excited about.

You’re currently attending Berklee College of Music. What makes Berklee the right choice for you?
I would’ve been happy to study music anywhere, but Berklee gives me the opportunity to study music therapy which is something that I have known i’ve wanted to do for a long time. Berklee has also helped me meet a community of passionate and well rounded musicians, and I am so grateful to be surrounded by people who love music as much as I do.

Who or what would you consider your biggest musical influences?
Of all time? Probably The Beatles. Paul McCartney is such an amazing writer and I’ve admired him for so long. As of recently, I have really been loving Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift! My mom is also someone who has been my biggest fan and drives me to be the best version of myself I can be, music-wise and just life wise.

What would you say is your biggest challenge with your music career?
I think my biggest challenge is setting a strict genre or style to stick to. I’m inspired by so many different sounds and confining myself to just one genre will always feel wrong. I never know what to describe myself as so I usually just saw “singer-songwriter”.

What are your immediate music goals?
I definitely hope to release my single soon. I’ve had people ask me when that will be, and while I can’t give a definite date yet, I can say it’s gonna be a great tune and I’m really excited to share a little piece of me with the world!

---

I can't wait to hear that single!

As always, I want to thank Ceci for visiting with us, and for sending along the pictures to accompany the interview.

I'm sure you’ll all want to follow her and see what she has going on. I would follow her on Instagram  visit her Website to make sure you don't miss a thing.

Thanks again Ceci, and good luck reaching your goals!

Benz Boonsiri Visits Section 36 Music

Section 36
Music has another visitor!
Benz Boonsiri is a phenomenally talented singer whose single "Faling" is one you should be listening to over and over.
I was so excited that she was willing to visit with us and discuss her music, future goals, and more. I’m sure you’ll enjoy everything she has to say.

So, let's see what happens when Benz Boonsiri visits Section 36 Music!

I absolutely love your single, “Falling”. What can you tell me about it?

The song "Falling" is my own creation, both the lyrics and the melody. I wrote the lyrics based on how I felt when I first started dating my boyfriend. This song is really personal to me. It's about my fear of falling for someone because I want to be certain before giving my all. I'd rather be alone until I find the right person. As for the music and production, I have to give full credit to Jenny Fan. She's a producer and vocal coach at the studio. I adore her energy and creative ideas she brought to this song.

You had the opportunity to appear on “I Can See Your Voice - Thailand. What was that experience like?

Participating in "I Can See Your Voice Thailand" was an amazing experience for me. I had the chance to meet numerous Thai celebrities, thanks to the show's extensive involvement of famous personalities. This appearance also significantly increased my followers and engagement with the Thai audience. Plus, I had the freedom to choose the song I wanted to sing, making the experience even more enjoyable.

You’re currently attending Berklee College of Music. What made Berklee the right choice for you?

I'm currently studying at Berklee College of Music and will graduate in May 2024. Berklee was the perfect choice for me because it focuses specifically on music, which is my chosen career path. My time here has been incredibly educational, and I feel well-prepared to enter the music industry. I've made numerous connections with musicians worldwide, sharing the same passion. Music is very much about connections, and Berklee excels in fostering those.

Who or what would you consider your biggest musical influences?

My greatest musical inspiration has always been Beyoncé. I'm captivated by her performances, her fashion sense, and, most importantly, her songs. Her talent and style have had a profound impact on my appreciation for music.

What would you say is your biggest challenge with your music career?

The biggest challenge I face is maintaining consistency amidst my busy schedule, which includes school and performances. To reach my immediate goals, it's crucial that I stay organized. Moreover, in order to attract more fans and grow my audience, I must consistently create and share new music and content. Balancing these demands requires careful time management and a strategic approach to ensure I can meet both my educational responsibilities and artistic aspirations. This means prioritizing tasks, setting achievable targets, and dedicating specific times for music production and content creation, all while keeping up with my studies and shows.

What are your immediate music goals?

My immediate goal in music is to increase my output by releasing more songs, along with an EP and an album. I also plan to consistently post music related content on every social media platform to attract more followers and increase my visibility. This strategy is aimed at building a stronger online presence and engaging more effectively with my audience.

I'm definitely thrilled that she's going to be posting more music!

As always, I want to thank Benz for visiting with us, and for sending along the pictures to accompany the interview.

"SENKO" - by Sophie's Body

Release Date: April 6, 2024

What You Should Know: "SENKO is the culmination of all the spite, longing, anger, and grief in my relationships that I’ve [Sophie] been too afraid to voice. I constantly battle with reading the room, taking things too personally, and being kind of a nervous wreck all the time-- but most of all, I struggle so much with "being ok with someone not being ok". It’s a complicated emotion, and it feels bad! I should be loving and supportive and completely accepting of the people in my life when they’re struggling, but I shut people out. I take their struggles and compare them to mine. I do all the wrong things, and I feel terrible about it! Writing SENKO has not only been an exercise in release and emotional catharsis, but it’s helped me understand myself more, and be a better person to the people around me.

SENKO was recorded at The Record Co in Boston, MA.

Credits:

Sophie McMinn - vocals, guitar, lyrics, arrangement, and production

Dylan Hughes - drums, drum part

Adam Hurt - guitar, lead guitar line

E.L Visits Section 36 Music!

Section 36
Music has another visitor!
E.L is an incredible singer whose single "Old Days" should already be on your playlists.
I was thrilled that she wanted to visit with us and discuss her music, future goals, and more. I’m sure you’ll enjoy everything she has to say.

So, let's see what happens when E.L visits Section 36 Music!

I absolutely loved your recent single, “Old Days”.  What can you tell me about it?

This song, "Old Days," is about complex feelings I felt upon reconnecting with a friend from the past. Through the lyrics, I delve into the internal struggle of wanting to believe that the person has changed for the better while also being haunted by past hurts when I see this person again. Throughout the song, I come to realize that perhaps my own resentment was preventing me from seeing the positive changes in my friend. It's an emotional journey that explores themes of personal growth, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

You’re currently attending Berklee College of Music. What makes Berklee the right choice for you?

For me, Berklee represents more than just a music school. It's a place where I can connect with artists from around the world, broaden my musical horizons, and explore new creative possibilities. The cultural richness and diversity of talent at Berklee inspire me every day and push me to push my own boundaries. Additionally, the many opportunities offered by Berklee, such as auditions, master classes, and internships, enrich my academic and professional journey, allowing me to build a strong network in the music industry.

You’re a member of the Berklee a cappella group Pitch Slapped. What is that experience like?

Being part of Pitch Slapped is a dream come true for me. Inspired by films like "Pitch Perfect," I've always been fascinated by the art of a cappella and the dynamics of vocal groups. Being a member of Pitch Slapped allows me to explore new vocal techniques, deepen my understanding of harmony, and develop close bonds with my fellow musicians. Despite the challenges and ups and downs, even if I just met them, I see the group as a family where passion for music reigns.

Who or what would you consider your biggest musical influences?

My musical influences are vast and diverse, ranging from Stevie Wonder, going to Nirvana, to Billie Eilish, and including French artists like Edith Piaf, Ben l'oncle Soul, Daft Punk and Stromae. Each artist has contributed to shaping my own musical identity, inspiring me to explore different genres and styles. I strive to listen to a wide range of music from around the world to fuel my creativity and enrich my artistic background.

What would you say is your biggest challenge with your music career?

For me, one of the biggest challenges is overcoming my shyness and promoting my music authentically. Self-promotion and seeking collaborations can be daunting, but I am actively working on these aspects to improve. Another challenge is staying true to my creativity while assimilating the knowledge gained at Berklee. I want to avoid conforming to industry conventions and preserve what makes me unique as an artist.

What are your immediate music goals?

Currently, I am focused on collaborating with other artists and composing music for cinematic projects. I aim to continue developing these collaborations and exploring new opportunities in the music industry. My long-term goal is to release an album and continue creating music that resonates with people and tells stories that deeply touch them.
